27 deaths, including 14 decapitated, rock Acapulco

The single largest display of violence by drug cartels in Mexico took place on Friday night into Saturday morning. Fourteen beheaded men where left by members of the Sinaloa cartel in front of a shopping center in Acapulco. One other body, intact, was also present. The bodies had handwritten signs with "warnings" from the cartel. The federal government of Mexico has condemned the violence--drug-related deaths and violence has climbed dramatically since 2006, when President Felipe Calderon "launched an offensive" against the cartels of Mexico. There have been incidents of mayors being killed, people tied up and shot, and police officers wounded. So far, there have been more than 30,196 deaths related to drugs and the cartels.

Yikes!!! Can we cancel tourism to Mexico? Danger everywhere; lots and lots of violence. Just how widespread are these cartels that the local and even the federal government cannot control them? There has to be a way to repress this kind of organization without guaranteeing death or bodily harm.
